2008 Ryder Cup - September 22, 2008. Valhalla Golf Club in Lousiville Kentucky. US 16 1/2/ - Europe 11 1/2
The monkey is off their back. The US team with 6 Ryder cup rookies and some steely veterans reclaimed the Ryder Cup yesterday culminating
three days of intense, spectacular golf by both sides. The outcome was still in doubt 45 minutes or so before the clinching match of Jim Furyk with at
least 5 matches only separated by one hole in the match play scoring system. But it was the Americans who were the thoroughbreds this time down the stretch
winning match after match and avenging the last two embarrassing defeats.
Both sides played specatacular golf, new stars emerging for both sides; for the Americans it was Anthony Kim, Hunter Mahan, Boo Weekley and J.B. Holmes, while for the
Europeans they were led by Ian Poulter and Robert Karlsson. While the big name stars for each team, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington may not have played up to their own high
standards, the depth and quality of the other players on each team shone through as there were no weak links on either side as many pundits had espoused in the days and weeks leading up to the event.
So it's Wales in 2010 for the next round in this Bi-Annual event. We can't wait!

Tom Lehman's Captain's picks for the US Ryder Cup Team in 2006 are Stuart Cink and Scott Verplank ... what do you think about that?
