Cleveland Golf

Sand Wedges were the Cleveland Golf first hot tour products, then came their TA irons and Launcher woods.

Golf is a complex sport that requires the right tools. While learning the rules of golf is easy for anyone, mastering the techniques required to play well is difficult. Not having the proper golf clubs or gear will make learning the sport all the harder. Choosing the right club for your needs is just as important as learning and practicing your golf swing. Purchasing clubs and gear from a reputable manufacturer is important to any golfer, whether professional or amateur. Cleveland Golf is the perfect choice for golf clubs, no matter your level of experience with the sport. Since 1979, Cleveland has sold quality golf clubs that have merged traditional design with modern technology. Whatever your needs, be they for clubs, clothing, or accessories, you will find the right fit with Cleveland golf clubs.

Cleveland Metal Woods

Woods, or drivers, are the largest golf clubs in a set. Traditionally manufactured out of hardwood, giving them their name, woods are used at tee off for driving the golf ball a long distance down the course. The long shaft and large head of the driver gives the golfer a great deal of power with which to hit the ball. Drivers come in multiple sizes, with 1 wood clubs being the largest and higher numbers becoming progressively smaller. Smaller wood sizes give you less power, but allow for more control of the ball. Only the largest sized woods are called drivers, with higher numbered clubs being known as fairway woods. While the size of the club’s head can vary, the largest size allowed by standard rules is 460cc.

Like drivers, fairway woods are clubs used to drive the ball a long distance down the course. Fairway woods are the higher numbered wood clubs and are consequently lighter and smaller. These clubs are used when a shorter drive is needed from the fairway, because either it is a later shot in the game or a hazard is in the way. The fairway wood provides additional lift to the ball, making it useful for these specialized shots.

Cleveland drivers come in a wide variety of models to choose from. Cleveland’s most popular driver is the Launcher XL270. Listed on Golf Digest’s Hot List for 2011, the XL270 is one of the lightest drivers on the market, as low as 270g. Built using Launcher Ultralite technology as well as a custom Miyazaki C. Kua shaft, the XL 270 offers a lighter weight without sacrificing power. The XL270 club also comes in a draw driver, helping the golfer to correct for slices. The SL290 is another lightweight club sold by Cleveland. Using the same Ultralite technology, the SL290 weighs in at 290g while still having a 460cc head. Lastly, the TL310 is a heavier, tour club that is designed with professional use in mind. At 310g, the TL310 is perfect for stronger, more powerful golfers.

Like Cleveland drivers , Cleveland offers a high quality fairway wood. The Launcher FL Fairway is designed using the same Ultralite technology and Miyazaki C. Kua shaft to provide the lightest weight club with the power and control of a metal fairway wood. The Launcher FL Fairway also comes with three fitting options available to allow for low, medium and high levels of loft.

Cleveland Irons

The workhorse club in golf is the iron. Irons have a smaller head and shorter shaft than the wood clubs and are typically used for shorter shots where more precision is required. Traditionally made out of solid iron, modern irons are often made out of steel or other lightweight material. There are many different types of irons and, like woods, higher numbers are lighter in weight. Starting with the 1 iron, there are nine different types of irons ranging in weight and length. Irons are used for almost every situation on the golf course, from teeing off to hitting off the fairway or the rough.

Finding a balanced set of irons is crucial for any golfer. Cleveland irons are designed to be customizable and matched to your needs. The CG16 irons set is a lightweight club model that aims to keep the precision of a normal, steel iron while considerably lowering the weight. The faces of the irons are specially designed to be large and thin, allowing the clubs to have increased accuracy and range. The CG16 irons are available with either a steel shaft or a shaft made of lightweight graphite. The irons are also available in tour varieties, providing a heavier club for stronger, more skilled golfers. All Cleveland irons are customizable in color, in either black pearl or satin chrome.

Cleveland Wedges

The wedge is a specialty club, designed for use in situations where the ball is difficult to move. Constructed with a wedge-like shape, wedge clubs have the highest loft of any club, lifting the ball high over obstacles and hazards. Wedges are typically used to get a ball over a bunker or other trap with a high loft over a short distance. There are many different kinds of wedges used for specialized situations. A pitching wedge and gap wedge are used in a variety of situations, often for short shots or lifting a ball over hazards. The sand wedge is used specifically for shooting a ball out of a sand bunker. Finally, a lob wedge is used for very short, very high shots and is a much more modern club.

Cleveland wedges come in a variety of proven models that offer the best performance available. The CG14 wedge is a tour quality club with a long track record of providing strong and excellent performance over the years and are available in both Black Pearl and Chrome. The CG15 wedge is a Golf Digest Editor’s Choice award winning club. Designed with a precision milled face, personalized shaft, and availability in the colors Black Pearl, Chrome, and Oil Quench make the CG15 an excellent and customizable choice. Finally, the CG 16 wedge uses a combination of the award winning designs of the Cleveland wedges CG14 and CG15 models. The tour quality and specialized face make the CG 16 a very versatile club.

Putters

The final and smallest type of golf club is the putter. The putter is designed to be used for very high precision shots over short distances. Consequently, putters have the lowest loft of any club. Putters are specifically used at the end of a golf hole for the last shot. Putters only work well on the level terrain of the putter’s green and are not designed for any other situation. Due to their specialized nature, a putter is the most important club a golfer can own.

Cleveland putters are designed to give golfers the widest variety of choice available for their needs. All Cleveland putters have custom designed faces to allow for greater control over the ball and a burnished finish to reduce sun glare from the club. The #1, #3, and #4 putters are designed with an elongated, blade-like appearance with a balanced heel-to-toe layout. The #2, #4, and #6 putters have a more rounded, mallet-like shape that gives the club a more compact profile. These putters are also available in either Classic Platinum, Black Platinum, or Bronze.

Golf Accessories

Choosing the right accessories for your golf game makes the difference between an enjoyable time out on the course and a miserable one. Besides the wide selection of Cleveland golf clubs , Cleveland offers a variety of golfing accessories. For golf bags, Cleveland offers both the stand bag, best for carrying and standing up on its own legs on the course, and the cart bag for use mounted on a golf cart. Cleveland also produces a travel cover for use when moving your clubs or checking them as luggage. To keep your bag and clubs tidy, Cleveland offers a 24x38 inch tour towel and a 16x24 inch bag towel. The Cleveland CG Tour umbrella is perfect for keeping out of the sun while on the course.

Wearing the right clothing is just as important for your comfort as your equipment. Cleveland offers a variety of men and women’s golf clothing. Keeping the sun out of your eyes is crucial to your golf game. To keep the sun off, choose either the Cleveland visor or baseball cap, available in a variety of colors and designs. To help with your swing, pick up the CG Premium Cabretta glove, designed to increase your grip under any condition.

Choosing the right golf equipment in crucial to your experience as a golfer. Every club is useful in a certain situation and they should all be of the same, high quality. Whether you play competitively or just for fun, Cleveland Golf is the right choice for your golfing needs.
