Boo Weekley

Move over John Daly, Boo Weekley is the new fan favorite representing the 'common man' on the PGA tour. Sporting a rhythmic swing, strong backbone and nerves of steel the man who could be described as Gomer Pyle with a dip, led the American Team to a Ryder Cup victory, 16 1/2 to 11 1/2 over the European Team yesterday at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. During the press conference that followed, Boo delivered the most memorable answer to a reporters question What does this victory taste like? His immediate and eloquent reply 'Chickin'.

September 22, 2008. Boo Weekley, thumbed his nose at the old blue blood heritage of the game of golf by galloping off the first tee yesterday; and in a way mirrored what this nation did over 200 years ago to our friends and relatives across the pond. He was the wild cousin, the rebellious child, but mostly he was the patriot ol sod who charged up the crowd, relaxed his teammates and led them to victory.

Boo demonstrated a selflessness not often seen by people today; moments after winning his match and a quick celebration with his wife, caddie and adoring fans, he uttered 'We gotta go help bring in the other guys'. If only there were more people like him.

Boo Weekly is the new Louisville Slugger and today we are all bleeding a little more Red, White and Boo. Thanks, Boo!
