Ben Hogan won 71 professional tournaments, 63 on the PGA tour. He had a fantastic record in the majors, especially considering that an automobile accident nearly ended his career.
US Open - 4 victories
Masters - 2 victories
PGA Championships - 2 victories
British Open - 1 victory
Hogan's single British Open was made in his only Open appearance. The British press dubbed him, the "Wee Ice Mon". His other nickname was The Hawk.
Ben's Ryder Cup record was also spectacular. He never lost a match.
The Colonial Invitational is played at Colonial Country Club, known as Hogan's Alley. He presided over the Ben Hogan Company, a maker of fine golf equipment. But Ben Hogan was a golfer first. Want to watch an amazing video; in his later years he played a match against Sam Snead on Shell's Wonderful World Of Golf. Ben Hogan hit every fairway and all 18 greens in regulation on the way to a very easy looking 67. An exhibition and clinic on ball striking.
